The Franklin County Recovery Center offers a variety of supportive programs every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday for individuals in recovery and their loved ones. From weekly meetings and peer groups to creative workshops and guest-led sessions, our schedule provides structure, connection, and community.

Below you’ll find our ongoing weekly offerings, followed by special events happening this month. We invite you to drop in, participate, and find what supports your recovery journey.

Activity Descriptions

All Recovery Support Meeting

(Weekly)

A recovery support meeting that welcomes all recovery pathways. Individuals may share, listen, or simply be present in a discussion-based setting that is open to anyone interested in recovery or supporting recovery.

SMART Recovery 4 Point

(Weekly)

SMART Recovery is a mutual support program for individuals seeking positive change related to substance use or other addictive behaviors. Meetings use a science-informed, self-empowering approach and focus on practical tools for building motivation, coping with urges, managing thoughts and behaviors, and creating a balanced life. Meetings are guided by trained facilitators and are open to anyone interested in attending.

Narcotics Anonymous – August Pause

(Weekly)

Narcotics Anonymous is a peer-led 12-step fellowship where members support one another through shared experience, strength, and hope. Meetings follow the Narcotics Anonymous program and are open to anyone with a desire to stop using.

Alcoholics Anonymous – August Pause

Plain Language Big Book Step Meeting

(Weekly)

This 12-step meeting uses the Plain Language Big Book to present Alcoholics Anonymous in clear, accessible language. Open to anyone with a desire to stop drinking.

SMART Recovery: Family & Friends

(Weekly)

SMART Recovery: Family & Friends is for individuals who are supporting someone with substance use or other addictive behaviors. Meetings focus on communication, boundaries, self-care, and practical tools for supporting a loved one while also caring for yourself.

Circle of Parents Group 

Franklin County Children’s Task Force

(Weekly)

Parents and caregivers can connect with others, share ideas, ask questions, and talk through the everyday realities of raising children.

Connection Cafe

(Weekly)

Participants can share a meal, connect with others, and spend time together in a welcoming environment. Meals are often planned and prepared with peer input, creating opportunities for shared experience and community. Some gatherings may include seasonal or themed elements while keeping the same relaxed, open format.

Peer Talk: Grief and Loss

(Weekly)

A peer-led discussion group built on shared experience, respect, mutual support, and hope. Come as you are to connect with others through change, uncertainty, and loss. You are welcome to listen, be present, and share at your own pace.

Peer Planning

(Bi-weekly)

A participant-led meeting where individuals share ideas, give feedback, and help plan activities and events. Talk about what’s working, what could change, and what the Center needs. Take part in a way that feels right for you. Join anytime.

Peer Journalism

Literacy Volunteers of Franklin and Somerset Counties

(Weekly)

Previously known as Recovery Comics, this group is offered in collaboration with Literacy Volunteers of Franklin and Somerset Counties and explores the basics of journalism in a welcoming, low-pressure setting. Learn how to tell stories, interview others, and write about personal and community experiences. No writing experience is needed, and participants are welcome to take part in a way that feels comfortable. Build writing skills and contribute to the Franklin County Recovery Center newsletter.

Recovery Grows Garden Group

(Bi-weekly)

Plan, plant, and care for a small garden space next to the Center. This group offers a chance to spend time outdoors and connect with others. No gardening experience is needed. Activities may include planting, watering, weeding, and seasonal upkeep. Participation is flexible, and all are welcome to stop in.

Colors of Recovery Activity

Create something with color through rotating projects like tie dye, painting, collage, and other crafts. Try new materials, have some fun with it, and see what you come up with. Supplies provided. Drop-in anytime.

Walk & Talk Wellness Stroll

(Bi-weekly)

Walk around Farmington with others. Talk if you want, or just walk. Go at your own pace. Join in anytime.

Beginner’s Yoga

Family Focused Yoga

(Monthly)

Led by Jenn, each session includes gentle yoga, mindfulness breathing, and meditation in a supportive environment. No experience is needed, mats are provided, and all abilities are accommodated. Open to all community members seeking movement, relaxation, and overall well-being.

Empowered Living: Skill Building Group

(Bi-weekly)

Learn practical skills for everyday life, including setting boundaries, managing control, and handling stress. Each session focuses on a specific topic and builds tools you can use outside the group. No pressure to share. Drop-in anytime.

Education & Employment Support Drop-in

Franklin County Adult Education

(Weekly)

Franklin County Adult Education offers free support at the Franklin County Recovery Center for anyone exploring education or employment opportunities. Meet with Dani for help with high school completion, job training, apprenticeships, job searches, applications, and college planning. Open to all community members.

Digital Literacy Drop-in

Greater Franklin County Economic and Community Development

(Bi-weekly)

Tyler is available for individual help with smartphones, tablets, computers, email, passwords, online forms, telehealth access, printing, and other everyday technology needs. Participants can bring questions, get help with a specific task, or get general support in building comfort with digital tools. Open to all community members.

Community Health Worker Drop-in

Healthy Community Coalition

(Monthly)

A Community Health Worker from MaineHealth Healthy Community Coalition will be on site to answer questions about health care access, insurance, food resources, local services, and other community needs. Visitors can stop by for resource connection and help finding the next steps.

Housing Navigation Drop-in

Western Maine Community Action

(Weekly)

Offered in partnership with Western Maine Community Action, this drop-in provides support with housing needs. Participants can meet with Courtney for help with applications, available resources, referrals, and next steps related to housing stability. Participants are welcome to talk through their situation and explore available options in a private, supportive setting.

SAPARS Advocate Drop-in

Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Services

(Monthly)

Jess, a Franklin County Sexual Assault Response Team advocate, provides confidential drop-in hours for individuals seeking advocacy, resources, information, or support related to sexual violence. Services are survivor-centered and trauma-informed.
